The Austin A35 was introduced in 1956 to replace the successful Austin A30. The A35 has a larger rear window than the A30, and a painted grille surrounded by a chrome horse-shoe surround. It had normal front and rear indicator lamps replacing the semaphore signals of the A30. The countryman was eventually replaced in 1962 by the A40 Farina. It had an 34 hp (25 kW) A Series inline four engine giving it a top speed of around 72 mph.
